L.E.A.N. - Steuben

L.E.A.N. - Steuben (Lifestyles Embracing Activity & Nutrition)

An initiative to encourage Steuben County residents to eat a healthy diet and participate in some form of physical activity daily.

Components of the program include:

BodyWorks - An evidence-based program through the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services that teaches adolescents and their caregivers about the importance of proper nutrition.

E-Health Tools - An online community offering the public E-Health Tools to monitor their weight, measurements, water consumption and activity levels.  A forum is available for health-related topics and a journal for recording your food, mood and overall health.

Fitness in the Parks - During the summer months, the Steuben Rural Health Network brings a certified personal trainer to parks in Bath, Hornell and Corning to lead group exercises.  These fitness sessions are free and are provided in an effort to get Steuben County residents up and moving!

Healthy Habits for Life -
A fitness and nutrition program targeting pre-school children and their parents/caregivers with an interactive Sesame Street themed curriculum.

Worksite Wellness - SRHN staff are certified in the Larry Chapman WebMD worksite wellness program.  Steuben County businesses and non-profits can receive technical assistance through the Network in developing the infrastructure of a wellness program for their employees.

Health Tip #73

"Take your fine dining to go. If you go out to eat this week, save calories by only eating half your entrée. Take the rest home to enjoy later!"
